SOCIETA AGRICOLA CIGNANO SOCIETÀ SEMPLICE

Cignano's winery takes the name from the territory in which its cultivations rise: an estate on the hills of the Adriatic hinterland, beside the river Metauro, near the ancient Forum Semproni. The farm, with its 60.000 grapevines of Greco di Bianchello, Sangiovese and Montepulciano, 300 olive trees and 60 hectares of cereal crops, lies to Isola di Fano, outlying administrative division of Fossombrone (PU), at an altitude of 250 ms a.s.I., to 20 km from the sea and to 40 km from the Marches Apennines. 50 years of agricultural tradition, handed on from father to son: it is 1960 when Antonio and Mario Bucchini move the first footsteps in the wine-growing as sharecroppers. Today Annibale and Fabio continue the family tradition with passion: an agricultural reality grown referring to the popular wisdom, always following the saying of "not to make the longest footstep of the leg". The farm is constantly development: in the last years, it has invested a lot both in the vineyard and in the winery, and also thanks to the professionalism of the oenologist Alberto Mazzoni, who since 2003 takes care the business quality, Cignano's wines have reached excellent qualitative levels.
